(Goblin is 4 years old)
I wasn't going to bother writing a post about our melted snowman cookies because honestly they are all over the blogoshphere, pinterest and facebook. But when we made them they were soooo delicious I thought I better do a post as a public service incase there is one last person out there who hasn't found them already.I made a first batch to take to a party. I applied white icing, and painted on a face and arms using black food colouring, added sprinkles for the scarf and silver balls for buttons. They looked cute and went down a treat at the house warming.
When we discovered that they were so delicious we decided to make some more. Seriously the mix of buttery biscuit and marshmallow is an incredible yum for your mouth. We used a very basic biscuit recipe
300g flour
250g butter
140g caster sugar
2 tsp vanilla essence
1 egg yolk
mixed together and rolled into a log; left in the fridge for 20 mins to solidify and then sliced to make biscuit rounds; Cooked for 12 minutes at 180 C/Gas 4/350F
Goblin decided he wanted to paint the next batch. They may not have been quite so recognisable as snowmen with a four year olds artistic application, but they were still totally scrummy.
These look fab and what a great idea. May have to try some for our Boxing Day party :)
ReplyDeleteI love them! They look so fun. Did you feel a bit mean eating them? Poor snowmen!
ReplyDeletehaha yeah I did a bit Cathy on the first one but after your first 'killing' the rest go down easy!
DeleteLove Goblin's version! :)
ReplyDeleteI love how they are all individual. Thanks for doing us a public service ;-)
