Goblin is loving pretend play at the moment. The other day he asked me if we could build a camp fire. I didn't really fancy it so I said "why don't we make a pretend one". Goblin nodded happily and I dived inside the house and emerged a minute later with some orange, yellow and red paper.(Goblin is 40 months)
We found an old wooden plant obelisk lying around the garden and stuffed the ripped paper into the slats. I gave Goblin a stick and he set to work tending his camp fire. To top off his play I provided a ball of cotton wool held together with tape - a marshmallow for him to toast.
Remember, creative play doesn't have to be complicated.

ReplyDeleteP.S. How on earth do you get hair clips to stay in - our's are out within minutes every day and instantly lost - grrrr!!
They do tend to migrate to the back of his head by the end of the day. We bought a bulk load meant for hairdressers on Ebay so we aren't so bothered when we lose some.
DeleteLooks like a lot of fun!

Oh wow that looks just like the derrick of an oil rig. You could pretend to go drilling for oil :)
ReplyDeleteLoving your pretend fire. Mine have been doing the real thing for Country Kids this week. I have linked back with last week's post where they were playing Narnia out on the farm.
ReplyDeleteA lovely linky - I can't believe I've not found it before now - will be putting some of these to use this half term week - bags of inspiration - thanks for hosting !
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, I find that when the children get a few sticks they make a fire, whether they have ever been round a real one or not. Kierna
