St David's Day - Welsh cakes

(Goblin is 28 months)
Goblin and I planted bulbs in late Autumn last year. Today the first of them had flowered. A lovely daffodil which is very appropriate for the coming weeks St David's day celebrations. As I said in my earlier St David's day post I intend to do lots of St David's day activities this week so today we made Welsh cakes.
I used the Nurturestore's recipe but left out the nutmeg because Hublet is not a fan.
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
2 oz caster sugar
2 oz raisins (plus an entire pot for Goblin to eat while cooking to stop him eating the 4 oz of butter)
4 oz butter
8 oz self raising flour
You are supposed to rub the butter and flour together first and then add the other ingredients but Goblin is so keen that he will start adding entire containers of ingredients if I don't work fast so I usually ignore anything sophisticated (like rubbing butter and flour together) and bung all the ingredients in a bowl together.
Goblin then mixed everything together before chasing the Kitty into the garden and discovering his sandpit - and that was the end of Goblin's participation in the Welsh cake baking.
It was probably just as well that Goblin decided that his sandpit was more exciting than cooking, because the next bit involved making the dough into balls and then squishing them flat and frying them. Goblin and hot oil - not a good mix.
I fried them on both sides until they were golden brown and the smoke alarm had gone off (Hublet calls it  the cooking alarm because its so sensitive).
Goblin was seriously unimpressed. Hublet liked them but he likes pretty much anything with the word 'Cake' in the title so he probably isn't the best judge. I also thought they were yummy though so I think Goblin is out-voted on that one.
